  • Greatest hits collection from Iceland's The Sugarcubes. The Great Crossover Potential was originally released in 1998, seven years after they disbanded, and highlighted the band's distinct sound. When they first came out The Sugarcubes sounded like nothing else in the pop world. They embraced the avant-garde and were not shy about incorporating it into their sound. Big on college radio, they never really crossed over into the mainstream, hence the title of this collection. Their quirky pop sound proved to more of an acquired taste. Of course Bjork would go on to huge pop stardom after breaking out on her own. Here she plays somewhat of a second fiddle to Einar's overbearing antics, but that is what helped make The Sugarcubes so unique. Notable songs include: "Birthday," "Hit," "Planet" and "Deus." Fourteen tracks in all. Released by One Little Independent on double vinyl.

    • black double vinyl pressing
