Lab Overview

Elliott Smith covers album featuring some of indie rock's finest. Say Yes! A Tribute To Elliott Smith features contributions from Waxahatchee, Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, J. Mascis, and Amanda Palmer, amongst others. The compilation includes Juliana Hatfield's cover of "Needle in the Hay," which previously appeared on 2014's I Saved Latin! A Tribute to Wes Anderson, while the remaining fourteen tracks are all previously unheard. Some, like the Breeders' Tanya Donelly's cover of "Between The Bars," are faithful to Smith's original takes. Other covers bring something new to the material. Yuck's "Bled White" fleshes out the original with layers of distortion, Jesu / Sun Kill Moon's "Condor Ave" turns Smith's take on its head in a dark and disjointed fashion. Say Yes! A Tribute To Elliott Smith is a fitting collection of covers for one of the 90s most compelling singer-songwriters. Fifteen tracks in all. Released by American Laundromat Records on transparent blue vinyl.
