  • Official reissue of Fela Kuti and Africa 70's 1971 live album with Cream drummer and #1 Fela fan Ginger Baker! This 50th anniversary edition is pressed on red colored vinyl with a 2nd LP containing 2 incredible bonus tracks on vinyl for the first time ever. Limited edition with obi strip. Peep the OG Lab review:

This early Fela LP has been available in a bunch of different pressings over the years - I've seen it on French, African and US labels, and now this official Knitting Factory repressing. That's testament to the power of the music, four diverse tunes that are slightly more concise than the usual side-long extravaganzas but no less potent. "Ye Ye De Smell" has typically been the selector's choice off this record, a wildebeest of a cut driven by guest stick-wielder Ginger Baker. I've always loved the little vocal intro Fela gives to "Let's Start," it's mellow and crafty, like he knows that in a couple of seconds the band is going to completely wreck shop. And they do. Mr. Kuti often drops crazy cascading keyboard solos into his tunes, and this LP has some of his best twisted playing on "Egbe Mi O" and "Black Man's Cry." Recommended.

    • red colored double vinyl pressing
    • side C contains 2 rare bonus tracks on vinyl for the first time
    • custom etching on side D
    • includes obi strip + printed inner sleeves w/ extensive liner notes
    • limited edition
    • music label: Knitting Factory Records 2022
