  • We’ve been keeping track of George Fitzgerald since we heard Joy Orbison drop his first single in a mix nearly a decade ago. “Weakness,” along with the flip side track “The Let Down” (Hotflush, 2010) was a supple slice of the forward-thinking underground sound of the UK which was then-branded future garage or post-dubstep but is now the preferred sound of festival goers who have just elevated themselves out of the EDM circus. Fitzgerald followed that up with a string of 12”s on Aus Music and Double Six, the latter of which tapped Fitzgerald for his debut full-length Fading Love in 2015. Georgie boy is back in 2018 with another 10-tracker for the Domino sublabel, and All That Must Be is his most mature effort to date. The slinky kitchen sink beats, deep basslines, filtered vocals and hands-in-the-air synth cascades we love him for are fully distilled on tracks like “Nobody But You” (feat. Hudson Scott), “Roll Back” (feat. Lil Silva) and “Burns.” Fitz and kindred spirit Bonobo take the well-worn bruk rollage of Bugz In The Attic into twilight forest rave territory on the mesmerizing “Outgrown,” one of the album’s brightest moments. Double 180g vinyl pressing; this edition on lime green colored wax with alternate cover art was exclusively available from Domino in North America, but we managed to score a stack.
