  • Fresh heat from the good folks over at Hobo Camp. Night Palms is the first comp that the label has put together and they've done a bang up job for all you boogie and modern funk fans! The sound is on the smoother side, perfect for sunset strolls, mellow nights on the yacht, and waterbed rides. It all starts off with Brian Ellis, who's no stranger to these pages. He drops a slow moving slice of funk that mixes in elements of AOR and jazz. "Modern Day Confusion" form BOY DUDE is more on the straight up funk side until the vocals drop; Toro Y Moi fans take note. Another heavy hitter on the comp comes from Moon B who delivers some luscious drum machine funk. There are stellar contributions from Mat/Matix and Elegant Borzoi, as well. If you're just getting familiar with Hobo Camp Night Palms is a great place to start.
