Heavy hitting ambient down tempo from Ghostly! KILN have been in the game since the 90s and their experience shows on meadow:watt. The trio of Kevin Hayes, Kirk Marrison and Clark Rehberg III craft atmospheres filled with texture and warmth. Their rhythms skew towards slow and sparse, but there are plenty of details in the space. The tracks have a very live feel, as if the material was culled from hours of live jams committed to tape. Dub is a heavy reference point with melodies getting treated with judicious swaths of delay. Sound come from guitars, drums, keys and field sampling, but it's what the trio does with the recordings that makes up the sound of KILN. Heavy analog processing lends meadow:watt its most endearing characteristics. Whatever was there before is molded into a distinct sound that is KILN's own.
