  • Personal recordings from the late Nirvana front man's vault. Montage Of Heck is the first documentary on Kurt Cobain to have the family's permission. It debuted this year at Sundance 2015 and made appearances at a number of other film fests as well as a limited run internationally to great success (for an indie). Courtney Love gave director Brett Morgen full access to very personal tapes, writings, and other personal effects, some of which had never been released publicly. From this access comes the soundtrack of rare demos from the man himself. The recordings are very much in demo shape, some even just sound bites and not fully realized songs, but what a way to have a slightly better (or maybe worse) picture of one of the greatest song writers of our generation. His cover of The Beatles 'And I Love Her' is near tear jerking and there are plenty more similar listens throughout. For the Nirvana fans, director Morgen wants to make sure you know this is NOT A NIRVANA album but it is definitely another piece to the puzzle. Recommended.
