  • A very welcome reissue of Leon Ware's self-titled full length! Leon Ware is an unsung legend in the world of soul music. As a song writer at Motown in the late 60's, he helped bring some of the labels greatest songs to life - including tracks for Willie Hutch, the Jackson 5, and Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". Later in his career, he released several solo albums, including this self-titled joint for Elektra in 1982. You might recognize the sublime "Why I Came To California" from that first Kon & Amir compilation from 2004. This track alone is worth the price of admission, and is a timeless example Leon's mastery of breezy, early 80's soul funk - but there's so much more goodness in these grooves. Check the upbeat funk on "Lost In Love With You," the sultry riffs on "Somewhere" and the irresistible grooves of "Can I Touch You There." Recommended.

    • orange crush colored vinyl
