  • Director Joseph Kosinski seems to have a thing for tasking French electronic acts with scoring his movies. The director tapped French touch stalwarts Daft Punk to handle the duties for 2010's Tron: Legacy and turns to M83 for the Oblivion OST. The Tom Cruise vehicle is fittingly soundtracked by the Antibes based Anthony Gonzalez. Absolute epicness seems to have been the call to arms as Gonzalez's synth based tracks seem to reach for the outer edges of the stratosphere. But while they might be stretching for new levels of space exploration, many of the tracks have a retro quality about them. They bring back memories of 80s movies in both structure and timber, with glassy arpeggios providing the momentum. Limited edition 180 gram 2LP housed in a gatefold sleeve.
