  • The only album ever recorded by Madcliff, this 1977 rarity finally gets the reissue treatment on Soul Brother Records out of the UK. Madcliff was a 'tax scam' alter ego (a common way funk & soul groups of the 70s would release new music if they were in debt to the IRS under the guise of their main project) of Vanguard funk/disco group The Players Association, masterminded by Chris Hills. The album is nicely varied with a broad range of soul, funk and disco. For DJs, the highlight is dance-floor ready “You Can Make The Change”, popularized by Northern Soul selector Keb Darge at his Legendary Deep Funk party at Madame Jojo’s in London. “Just Another Woman” and “It Takes a Little More” are more acoustic soul ballads. OGs are not cheap so get with this.

    • rare 'tax scam' LP released clandestinely by Chris Hills of The Players Association
    • black vinyl pressing
    • music label: Soul Brother Records 2016
