This one's for all you fans of the Disco Reggae comps on France's Stix Records. If you're not familiar, the label is home to a crew of producers who deliver high quality reggae inspired covers of popular electronic and hip hop songs. Frequent contributor Matos has just upped the ante with Homework Dub. The French producer has taken the entirety of Daft Punk's 1997 full length debut and run it through his dub machine. Mind you, these aren't just simple remixes, ladies and gentlemen. Mato produces covers from the ground up, taking the melodies of the originals on an extended Jamaican vacation. You'll recognize hits like "Revolution 909," "Da Funk," "Around The World" and "Burnin" while getting to hear them in a new context. Mato even goes the extra mile on "Teachers" and comes up with his own dub reggae inspired list of influences. If you're a fan of Daft Punk and dub then Mato has got a winning combination for you.
