Mister Saturday Night has come a long way since their beginnings as a dance party in 2009. The duo of Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin have thrown numerous parties throughout Brooklyn, moving from established venues to their own barely legal warehouse and loft spaces throughout the borough. Mister Sunday, their appropriately titled Sunday evening party, has hosted everyone from Theo Parrish and Michael Mayer to Mr. Scruff and Optimo. These days the party's focus has shifted to Carter and Harkin who no longer need to bring in international guests due to their party's popularity. When they launched their label in 2012 the first few vinyl only releases focused on local talent, as well. However, Mister Saturday Night has quickly grown to embrace a wide roster of artists from around the world. This is plainly palpable on the label's first comp, Brothers And Sisters. While the CD version of the comp features a mix of previous released material along with some new tracks, the vinyl version plays host solely to previously unreleased material. Standouts include the deep and dirty "IYP" from Dark Sky, as well as Gunnar Haslam's dubby and beatless "Kenosha (Amytal)." The Glasgow based duo General Ludd, who's "Brothers And Sisters" the comp gets its name from, also make a strong showing with "C." Based around a looping percussion sample, the track takes its time progressing into a sub heavy tribal workout. Brothers And Sisters shows that as a label Mister Saturday Night is able to showcase the wide ranging taste of its party's hosts.
