  • Started by touring group members of Tame Impala, Nick Allbrook & Jay Watson, Pond's experimental take on pop quickly caught the attention of many. The Perth group still shares members with Tame Impala, and for its 7th album (produced Kevin Parker), Pond delivers a sweeping collection of synth-kissed psychedelic rock. While remaining readily accessible, the band manages to push it's sound to a newer, more refreshing dimension of out-there-ness, and the colorful sonics of The Weather is balanced out by a conscious message; according to Allbrook, it can be summarized as an attempt to expose "all the dark things underneath the shimmering exterior of cranes, development, money and white privilege." A satisfying listen full of poignant details upon closer inspection, check out "3000 Megatons," "Sweep Me Off My Feet," "Paint Me Silver," and "The Weather."
