  • Love him or hate him, you gotta admit Quentin Tarantino puts together a mean soundtrack. I haven't even seen Grindhouse yet, but this thing has me hooked with rare 60s and 70s gems. As expected, there's a generous helping of dialogue and some recycled Ennio Morricone score here, but there's plenty for the beat-minded too, the best being Smith's soulful "Baby It's You" and Pacific Gas & Electric's take on the tale of "Staggolee." The inclusion of "Jeepster" has us scrambling to find our copies of Electric Warrior and wondering if there's any T.Rex vinyl still in print - glammo jammo! Also check the Coasters' "Down In Mexico," the riotous drums of Eddie Beram's "Riot In Thunder Alley" and "Hold Tight" by the amazingly named Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. Great pic sleeve and full-color movie stills put this over the top. Recommended.
