Yung Lean's breakout mixtape Unknown Death 2002 dropped in 2013, and the Swedish rapper undoubtedly has had an influence on the influx of emo rappers that's blown up since, e.g. Trippie Redd and the late Lil Peep. Stranger is the 3rd studio album from the Sad Boys member, and Lean takes a break from his atonal, aloof rapping to take a more melodic approach to delivering his non-sequitur Sad Boy stories. The record still abounds in signature Lean energy, one overflowing with anxiety, fragility, and narcotized realities of life as a young rapper. Check out "Iceman," "Red Bottom Sky," "Skimask," and "Silver Arrows."
