  • "Bump into each other..." Originally released in 1990, World Clique is the debut album from Lady Miss Keir, Supa Dj Dimitry, and Towa Tei, better known as the club-going downtown kids, Deee-Lite. The album encapsulates New York in the late 80s moving into the 90s when the city still had some bite and the club scene was WILD. The three set out to capture the spirit of their peers as well as document one of the freshest periods in New York history. To call this a dance album is completely unjust, it is a movement... a spirit... a feeling. The streets are alive in this album. The lineage of hip hop, funk, soul, house, and of course disco are well represented. And while the sound is nowhere near it, the essence of what Kenny Dope and Louie Vega did a few years later with Nuyorican Soul is based on this album... Plain and simple, this is New York. You either love it or you hate it. 45RPM audiophile reissue, recommended.
