Instrument is a 1999 film by Jem Cohen about Fugazi, and Instrumental Soundtrack collects 18 mostly instrumental tracks that were used as audio backdrop for the documentary. The album consists of mostly unreleased demos, outtakes, sketches, and ideas drawn from Red Medicine and End Hits sessions, and perhaps the most interesting is "I'm So Tired," a piano ballad sung by Ian MacKaye, which obviously is a stylistic departure for the band. Other highlights include "Afterthought," "Slo Crostic," "Pink Frosty Demo," "Lusty Scripps," and "Turkish Disco." An essential pick-up for fans that want to experience a different side of the D.C. group...
- red & black marble colored vinyl
- remastered from the original tapes
- includes printed insert
- original release year: 1999
- music label: Dischord Records 2024
