For II, the duo nails that 80's R&B / grown & sexy sound (just as they did on their 2015 self-titled debut) with fat grooving bass lines, shimmery-squiggly synths, and grooving melodies for the dance floor and beyond. It's a win-win situation as Jake One delivers spot-on production that channels Gap Band, One Way, Leroy Burgess, Steve Arrington, and the rest of the boogie innovators, while Mayer does it up proper on vocal duties. Get on down to the sound on "Special," "Fux With The Tux," "Rotational," "U Like It," "2nd Time Around," and more. Not a sloucher in the bunch! Recommended for the boogie lovers out there.
