Ty Segall's 10th full-length, Freedom's Goblin, is a freewheeling montage of styles, where folk, punk, psych, jazz, and heavy nods to classic rock come together beautifully. The 19-tracker is filled with "deep impact rock of all shapes and sizes," and the freedom with which Segall operates ("no idea is inappropriate") nets "some of the most violent, passionate, funny and free pop songs." Co-engineered by the legendary Steve Albani, the album is also noted for incorporating a horn section, which shows how expansive Segall's songwriting abilities are, and despite his deep catalog (over 20 albums + 30 singles/EPs), the garage rocker is capable of crafting new, exciting material. Check out "Alta," "My Lady's On Fire," "Despoiler of Cadaver," "Rain," "Every 1's a Winner," and "Fanny Dog."
