  • Previously unreleased 1984 album from Japanese saxophonist, producer and composer Yasuaki Shimizu! Shimizu’s Kakashi and his band Mariah’s Utakata no Hibi have been some of our favorite reissues of the last few years, and Kiren is an excellent cap to this self-considered trilogy. As with his other work during this period, Kiren is an eclectic, risk-taking, and mesmerizing soundscape of synthesis, sampling, and saxophones. Elements of free-jazz, industrial, and sampledelia are scattered across each track–“Momo No Hana,” ”Kagerofu,” and “Shiasate” are prime examples. Highly recommended for fans of Sakamoto, Hosono, Art of Noise, Oneohtrix Point Never, and My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. 7 tracks on black vinyl.

    • previously unreleased album originally recorded in 1984
    • black vinyl pressing
    • includes printed foldout insert w/ extensive liner notes
    • music label: Palto Flats 2022
