Short and sweet survey of the work of Yuji Toriyama, one of Japan's premier purveyors of soulful city pop and fusion who went on to a long, fruitful career behind the scenes working on soundtracks for video games and arranging for TV and pop music. "Night Together" is the obvious track 1 here, but check out syrupy FM groovefest "Maze" or the jacking 808 vibes of "Donna" to see why Toriyama's rated alongside Hiroshi Sato. Only five tracks, cut nice and loud at 45 RPM so you can slip it into your adventurous disco / boogie / jazz funk set, or just play it at 33 and call it v*porw*ve. Recommended.
