  • Love it or hate it, this is a landmark record that anyone interested in electronic music must know. One of those cross cultural oddities that us music nerds love debating about (German progressive rock guitarist creates Detroit techno blueprint), E2-E4 was apparently inspired by chess and the much-better-on-drugs synth extravaganzas of Klaus Schulze. Ron Hardy played it, Carl Craig remixed it, "Sueno Latino" sampled it, James Murphy imitated it; the pedigree is immaculate. Originally released in 1984, this record has become prohibitively pricey. Bootleg copies pop up every now and then, but it's great to have an official repress courtesy of Gottsching's own label. Immerse yourself and act like you're Derrick May. Recommended.

    • black vinyl pressing
    • housed in embossed outer sleeve
    • printed insert w/ liner notes
    • music label: MG.ART 2016
