Uncaged. This live album from Kentucky rockers Cage The Elephant boasts rearranged live versions of tracks from all four of their studio albums, plus a trio of covers that totally caught us by surprise: Daft Punk & Julian Casablancas’ “Instant Crush,” Wreckless Eric’s “Whole Wide World” and The Stranglers’ excellent single “Golden Brown” (which you might recognize from Guy Ritchie’s Snatch). Unpeeled is one of the clearest, expertly-mixed live albums we’ve ever heard; if you weren’t familiar with these tracks, you might mistake them for studio recordings if not for the muffled roar of the crowd that subtly bleeds into the mix every so often. In some cases, these versions even surpass the originals (“Aberdeen,” “Spiderhead”). 21 tracks on double vinyl, includes giant foldout poster.
