  • Classic debut album from Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother as Neu!. Like other seminal krautrock bands (Kraftwerk, Can, Popol Vuh, etc.) Neu! are considered founding fathers of the genre. Dinger and Rother actually formed Neu! after leaving an early incarnation of Kraftwerk in the early 70's, and created a sound that would eventually influence everyone from Bowie, Eno, Iggy Pop and Thom Yorke. The album was recorded in '71 (produced by Conny Plank) and features early motorik tracks "Hallogallo" and "Negativland," as well as more experimental / psychedelic moments on "Weissensee" and even ambient drones on "Lieber Honig." A diverse and groundbreaking album that is definitely worth repeat listens. White colored vinyl edition with gatefold sleeve, recommended.
