Original Lab review:
Your Justin Timberlake decision should have been made somewhere around "Cry Me A River" - you're either riding for him or not, and there's really no middle ground. Pro-JT people, you probably already know how many hot joints on here and don't need me to sell you on the second coming. I actually can't stand Timberlake, never have, but I applaud his enthusiasm (have you seen this white boy dance?) and his beats are so fucking good that I can ignore his (sometimes / often) off-target blue eyed soul thing. Besides, when Justin does get it locked down on one of those amazing beats he gets, it's a beautiful thing. I understood the appeal of "Sexyback," but I never really liked it... now "My Love" on the other hand, that's some genius shit. Note that the album version starts out with a full minute of intro, which is kind of cool too. Aside from Timbaland (he produced most of it), you also get the Three 6 Mafia collab "Chop Me Up," and the Will.I.Am produced "Damn Girl." That 3-6 track is way better than I imagined, and "Damn Girl" has got to be the next single- I see this doing some "Rock Your Body"-type damage. Other ones to check for include "Futuresex" and "Love Stoned," a couple more Timbaland heaters. 12 songs total and you've just heard half of em.
- black double vinyl pressing
- gatefold sleeve
- original release year: 2006
- music label: Jive 2026
