"In April of 1996, the band reinforced that initial success with their first and only album, produced by JAWBOX's J. Robbins and named after the last words that John Lennon was alleged to have heard: Do You Know Who You Are? In the years since Spin, Alternative Press, and Paste would all go on to call Do You Know Who You Are? an essential '90s album. Unfortunately, after a year of heavy promotion and touring for the record, inner-band tension came to a head, and Texas Is the Reason officially split in 1997. It's members would go on to play in JETS TO BRAZIL, NEW END ORIGINAL, ATLANTIC/PACIFIC and THURSDAY. Since then, the band had only reunited in 2006 for two sold-out shows in New York, again in 2012 for sold out shows in both NY and LA. Now the band is playing shows again with lots more planned. Newer generations of bands like SPITALFIELD, INTO IT. OVER IT., TRANSIT, and STEPHEN BRODSKY (of CAVE IN) have covered Texas Is the Reason songs over the years, and even now- marquee acts like DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, and FALL OUT BOY have all publicly cited their influence. Texas Is the Reason Do You Know Who You Are?: TX30 Special Edition LP is the second of three releases to mark the 30th anniversary of the band and it's landmark album, Do You Know Who You Are?. The original recording, produced by J. Robbins and mastered by Vlado Meller has been cut using the current direct to metal mastering for a clear, loud rendering of the album. The package includes an eight-page booklet with many photos never published before. These TX30 Special Edition pressings will chart the band's three chronological stages across three intentionally-prepared 12-inch records-from their earliest recordings to their debut album to the band's final three songs, written for and originally conceived as the beginning of a second album that was never completed before their 1997 breakup. Each release will include expanded art and booklets featuring never-before-seen photos, flyers, and other means of telling the band's story. The three releases will be joined by specially designed obi strips, devised to create a visually cohesive set." - Revelation
