  • Ushered in by De La Soul's 1989 debut 3 Feet High And Rising, the Daisy Age was an influential moment in hip-hop, r&b, and pop. From the loose clothing and "dayglo colours" to the music that favored playfulness and good humour w/ a gently psychedelic twist, the "movement," although somewhat short lived, would have a lasting impact. This compilation, put together by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley, perfectly captures the vibe: Jungle Brothers ("Doin' Our Own Dang") and A Tribe Called Quest ("Bonita Applebum") to KMD ("Peachfuzz"), Queen Latifah ("Mama Gave Birth To The Soul Children"), and Black Sheep ("The Choice Is Yours" (Revisited)). The West Coast is also present, check out Del Tha Funky Homosapien's "Mistadobalina" and Digital Underground's "Doowutchyalike."
