Debut 12" from Alvin Aronson on White Material. Before popping up on some underground tapes (Pacific Psychedelia) and a couple well received remixes, Alvin Aronson was best known for designing the brilliant D/A clock that fused analog and digital time-keeping technology. Fast forward to the City EP and it comes as no surprise that Aronson again deftly fuses analog and digital sensibilities, this time in the audible realm, with a 90's techno slant. The sound definitely leans toward the deeper, ambient side of techno with several soundscapes interspersed between more straight forward, NY lo-fi techno tracks. Check the vibe on the atmospheric "Fog City," "City 2" or the spiraling "Drone Techno." As with other White Material releases, don't expect this one to stick around on the shelf for long.
