American Football expands their sound while maintaining their inner focus. One of the most rewarding returns in contemporary Rock music has been that of American Football, whose 1999 self-titled debut fused midwestern emo and moody post-rock, indelibly changing both genres. Their 2016 return was unanimously acclaimed, but the band believed their best work was ahead of them. American Football (LP3) sees the band taking stock of what occurred during their initial absence, integrating aspects of shoegaze and dreampop to create a sound more rich and expressive than ever. Guest appearances by Paramore’s Haley Williams and Rachel Goswell of Slowdive emphasize their newfound eclecticism, adding a refreshing pop sheen to instrumentation that is more complex than ever. This LP is pressed on light blue vinyl and features a full-size booklet with lyrics and photos.
