For the duo's 7th studio album, Mi Vida Local, the Minnesota duo Atmosphere reflects on "the ways in which the world-and their place in it-has changed." It's 100% Dad Rap (check out "Trim," on which Slug laments on how difficult it is to find intimacy w/ his wife), and we're stoked to see the veteran MC fully embracing his space in the game: authenticity still matters. Ant's chilled-out production consists of programmed sounds and live instrumentation, and the stripped-down boom-bap beats leave plenty of room for Slug's lyrics to really shine. On "Virgo," the first single off of the LP, the rapper shares his thoughts on getting old but also weaves in political commentary ("Never been afraid of getting older / I'm much more nervous about these public servants "), and "Delicate" leans into "anxiety over keeping loved ones safe during turbulent times." Other highlights include "Jerome," Stopwatch," and "Earring."
