Third studio album from Toronto synthpop outfit Austra. Future Politics is a soundtrack for uncertain times. Rather than celebrate impending doom and fetishizing dystopia, Future Politics is a call for us to wake up and write our own future. Written in Mexico City, where frontwoman Katie Stelmanis was inspired by the magic realism of Mexico's rich and violent history, as well as a swath of local musicians mixing traditional Latin American folk music with techno beats. Future Politics ranges from somber slow-burners and hopeful anthems (“We Were Alive”, “43”) to uptempo crossover tracks (“Utopia”, "Future Politics"). This red colored vinyl pressing comes housed in a gatefold sleeve with code for free digital download, released by Austra's longtime imprint Domino.
