Ahhh, yes. DC’s Beautiful Swimmers (Future Times boss Max D and World Building jefe Ari Goldman) hand-picked these eleven tried-and-true club joints for this second entry in the Love International Fest comp series, run by the folks behind testpressing dot org, with tracks ranging from $100 wall record to dollar bin deepness, plus a few exclusive edits and first time on vinyl specials. The selection represents the duo’s wordly approach to digging and DJing, casting a wide berth that encompasses deep UK techno treats (The Horn’s “Whiddon On Down,” Spirit Garden’s “Electra City”), balearic ambient fusion (Plunky’s “African Sunset,” Svend Undseth’s “Aquilla Aquela”) and hyper-localized B-more club killers from KW Griff and Diamond K associate Foe. There’s something for any dance music lover to latch onto somewhere in this tracklist, from the heavenly Karu deep house mix of Nature Love’s “You Turn Me Around” to Legowelt-grade melodic techno stunner “Living In A Zone” by Analogous Doom (shoutout Missouri!) or private press DC boogie weirdness “Running Out Of Time” by Alex Simon. KW Griff’s utterly perfect flip of Teedra Moses’ “Be Your Girl” (Ahmad Jamal sample!) is Baltimore Club at its most sensual and sublime; pick it up just for this one, people. Everyone in the office already got their grubby mits on a copy so don't get left in the dust. Recommended!
