  • Make America C.O.O.L. Again. Lab fave Nicky Benedek steps out on Music From Memory sublabel Second Circle with a squeaky clean balearic house ting. Nasty basslines juxtaposed against a pristine techno veneer is the name of the game on Earlyman Dance; dive headfirst into the A1 title track and you’ll see what we mean. A nice helping of dubbed-out trumpet (c/o Anthony Calonico) and Latin percussion lends a very welcome Certain Ratio sort of vibe to these tunes, and the kid has made serious leaps since the quiet storm bounce of Bene’s World just last year. What do you expect from a guy who literally holds a degree in FUNK. We’ve got the whole B side on repeat, but both mixes of the title track are ace as well. Some of his most refined work to date, recommended.

    • black vinyl pressing
