On the aptly titled Forty Five, the respected Bristolian DJ/producer crafts a breaks-fueled sonic collage representing the music that has been paramount to his long running career, while tapping several friends he's met along the way for contributions. Expect nothing but funky rhythms and heavy beats harking to the golden-era hip-hop sound and beyond, with vocal duties handled by the more than capable Louis Baker ("Soul On Top" and "Move A Mountain"), Emskee ("Energy Boost" and "The Roxy"), Kasabian and Gee Ealey. Frequent collaborator and repeat DMC World Champion DJ Woody comes through on the scratch, while Geoff Barrow (Portishead / Beak), Ben Salisbury, and Billy Fuller (Beak) add more flavor to the funky brew. Twelve tracks in all, complete with thorough liner notes on each track by Boca 45 himself.
