Boston's Bosq teams up with a crew of legendary Puerto Rican musicians. San Jose 51 finds the Whiskey Barons' co-founder exploring the intersection of Puerto Rican music with African styles, reggae, funk, house and much more with the help of the Candela All-Stars. This group of musicians has worked with Latin legends Roberta Roena, Cortijo, Tito Puente, and Ismael Riviera, amongst others. Recorded in Puerto Rico, San Jose 51 carries on where Bosq's full lengths for Ubiquity Records left off. The songs show the influence that Puerto Rican music has had on the world, as well as the world's influence on Puerto Rico. While there is nothing that is quite traditional, there is plenty to dig into here. Eight tracks in all. Released by Candela Recordings on black vinyl housed in a full color sleeve.
