Hvis Lyset Tar Oss (Norwegian for "If the Light Takes Us") was recorded in '92-'93 during Varg Vikernes' fertile period in which he recorded his first four albums (including the previous Det Som Engang Var) before ending up in prison. Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is widely considered a black metal classic, exemplifying the harsh and aggressive sounds Norwegian black metal is known for, but also incorporating contemplative, dark ambient soundscapes (see "Tomhet") which Vikernes would further explore on later albums. Four tracks in all.
