Lab Overview

Digger's Delight. Catalyst's debut album from 1972 gets a proper reissue job at the nice price. Fans of CTI style jazz funk need to check this out asap. The Philly quartet of Eddie Green, Sherman Ferguson, Odean Pope and Al Johnson bring heavy rhodes-filled grooves so on-point, it would make Bob James jealous. Check the sound on "Ain't It The Truth," "Catalyst Is Coming," "Jabali," and my personal favorite "New Found Truths." The perfect balance of jazz and funk vibes, without tipping over too much either way. Rarely ever see this one in the field so grab the repress while it lasts.
