  • Debut album from Great Yarmouth, England melodic rockers Catherine Wheel. Ferment was initially released in 1992 and produced by Talk Talk's Tim-Friese Greene. The album contains re-recorded versions of four songs which previously appeared on a handful of independent 12" EPs that attracted the attention of major label subsidiary Fontana, who signed the band for their debut full-length. Catherine Wheel were lumped in with the burgeoning shoegaze scene for their heavy use of guitar effects and melodic, lackadaisical vocal stylings; but were in truth more pursuant of their own unique take on alternative rock. They enjoyed great success in the United States, as audiences in the United Kingdom leaned more and more on Britpop. Ferment has been out of print since its initial release in 1992, and original copies often trade hands for three figures. This 180g gold & orange vinyl pressing is strictly limited to 1500 copies worldwide, so don't sleep. Contains "Black Metallic," "I Want To Touch You" and "Texture."
