Lab Overview

Debut solo outing from famed Jazz composer. The 1970 album saw the double bassist taking inspiration from the Spanish civil war and his peers Ornette Coleman and frequent collaborator Carla Bley. During the turbulent times of the era, the album was a fitting tribute to the never ending wars we've seen to always get ourselves in. Three of the songs are Spanish folk songs while other tracks include Ornette Coleman's 'War Orphans' as well as three original pieces from Carla Bley. The album is dynamic, very cinematic, and of course quite telling of their impressive playing. 2015 reissue gets pressed with gatefold sleeve as a part of the Back To Black series.
