Curtis Mayfield
Keep On Keeping On - Studio Albums 1970-1974 (180g) Vinyl 4LP Boxset
Rhino
↳ first four records from soul-funk legend, remastered

Early solo works from the "Gentle Genius" remastered! Curtis Mayfield's musical legacy, which started when he joined The Impressions in 1956, continues to be one of the most inspiring in modern music history, and the "potent combination of socially conscious lyrics and soul/funk" helped set the backdrop for later works like Marvin Gaye's What's Going On and Stevie Wonder's Innervisions. Curtis, originally released in 1970, leads the pack, with 1971's Roots, 1973's Back to the World, and 1974's Sweet Exorcist completing the set, which, of course, is named after a song on Mayfield's sophomore effort. As 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Curtis Mayfield's prolific solo career, this is a welcome release pressed on 180g vinyl.
