Lab Overview

Ten Bands ~ Reissues 10 albums on pink vinyl in support of Gilda's Club NYC, a NYC initiative raising money and awareness for cancer patients and their caretakers. Daryl Hall & John Oates's 1975 self-titled LP is one of the selected, and it's an on-sight pick-up just based on the glam-ed out artwork alone (done by Pierre LaRoche, who's responsible for Ziggy Stardust for David Bowie). The 4th full-length from the duo, Hall & Oates re-embrace their the blue-eyed soul that they stayed away from on the previous War Babies, and "Sara Smile," which proved to be their breakout hit, affirmed the group's pop savviness. Filling up the rest of the 12-tracker with mid-tempo folk-soul-pop-rock numbers, just as catchy as the aforementioned track. Check out "Alone Too Long," or "Grounds for Separation," which Kanye West sampled for 1999 track "Fight With the Best." Other highlights include "Camellia" and "Out of Me, Out of You."
