  • Darkside member Dave Harrington's solo full length debut. Become Alive is built on layers of improvised material that was further manipulated by Harrington in the studio. Inspired by late 60s and early 70s jazz albums, where the studio was as much an instrument as anything else, the multi-instrumentalist took an experimental approach in producing the album. Harrington mixes electronics with pure jazz improv to craft sprawling instrumentals that are deep and cosmic. The album was co-produced by his Darkside band mate Nicolas Jaar, but it seems that his touch is slight. Harrington's emotive drones explode in to more expressive passages that come to life on the strength of pure musicianship rather than any studio trickery. Eight tracks in all. Released by Nicolas Jaar's Other People on black vinyl.
