Should the opportunity arise, vomit me flies. Year Of The Snitch is the first Death Grips LP since 2016's Bottomless Pit. In the time since, members Zach Hill and Andy Morin have stayed busy with their I.L.Y.'s side project. For Year Of The Snitch, MC Ride & co. worked with DJ Swamp, Tool bassist Justin Chancellor and producer Andrew Adamson... otherwise known as the director of Shrek and Shrek 2 (you can't make this shit up). Lead single "Paint" is a relatively (for Death Grips) low-key, mellow groover that you might actually get away with playing in a club. But the ferocious "Black Paint," on the other hand, is deeply steeped in hardcore punk and sludge metal (I never understood why people call them an 'experimental hip-hop' group). High-octane burners "Flies" and "Ha Ha Ha" boast the same energy the band exerted all the way back on "Guillotine"; it's impressive that Death Grips have been doing their thing for this long and haven't tuckered out. 13 tracks altogether on indie-exclusive clear vinyl with printed inner sleeve, limited to 2000 copies.
