Lab Overview

Limited to 3256 LPs worldwide! Turn Around - B-Sides & More 1978-84 collects some of the rarer singles, b-sides, alternative takes, and remixes from Devo. The iconic Akron, Ohio band is obviously best known for "Whip It," but the Mothersbaugh & Casales brothers alongside Alan Myers were much more than just the MTV smash. Devo's knack for writing off-kilter pop songs w/ unusual time signatures and synths proved to be very influential on new wave, industrial, and alternative rock acts that followed, and its use of "kitsch science fiction themes, surrealist humor, and satirical social commentary" further pushed its impact on pop culture. Check out "Mecha-Mania Boy," "Working in the Coal Mine," "Social Fools," and "Penetration in the Centrefold" (produced by Brian Eno).
