Thes One's Piecelock 70 collective continues to deliver high quality releases. To follow up DJ Day's The Day Before we have to move to the east coast, Brooklyn to be exact. That's where Doc Delay has been quietly working away on his debut LP, Morgan. The DJ and producer cut his teeth with a series of mixes that showcased his digging skills, specifically when it came to psyche and eastern European breaks. Being a collector with deep crates allowed him to get deep on the MP and flip samples like nobody's business. However, Morgan finds the producer largely eschewing samples and going back to where it all started. He's returned to his roots and picked up instruments that he learned to play when he was a kid. In doing so he's deftly toed the line between sampling and recording live, creating a blurry vision where it's hard to tell what is what. The album, named after the street that Doc Delay walks on between his studios, is definitely one for all the beatheads out there. There's a throwback vibe to the time when samplers reigned supreme and only the deepest diggers got the respect they deserved. Limited edition release housed in a custom spot coated sleeve, includes 8 page booklet.
