Lab Overview

Mysterious electro funk torpedo back in print! Dr. Mary Sullivan Bain was a teacher working in the Miami-Dade public school system. When she found that many kids didn't know anything about black history, she turned to music as a way to highlight the achievements and legacies of the community. "Do You Know Black History" was recorded at Miami Sound Recordings and distributed in small numbers throughout Miami's public school system. The only place you could possibly find an OG copy of this would be in some school library back in 1985. The record itself is one of those impossible to categorize bombs that just seems to take you there. 808s, bass synths, deep chords, live percussion and effects dubbed into the mix combine for a smooth grooving proto-electro burner. Instrumental on the flip. Recommended.
