Get over here! I’m one of only a few people at Lab HQ who tolerate Drake (I don’t just tolerate him, I fuck with him!), which says all you need to know about TTL and our unwavering position as the ultimate #dadrap outpost. Yeah, Drake's huge, but I sorta feel like he’s in the spot that Kanye occupied back around 2007, and Kanye is now in 50 Cent’s spot: still at the top, but losing his grasp on the people fast -remember Graduation vs. Curtis? And like Graduation, when Scorpion dropped over the summer, the question lighting up group chats wasn’t “do you like it,” it was: “which songs are your favorite.” So here’s mine: “Nonstop,” “I’m Upset,” “Elevate,” “Peak,” “Jaded,” “Finesse,” “That’s How You Feel,” “In My Feelings” (don’t lie - those few days before it got played out were sick), “Don’t Matter To Me” (Michael!), “After Dark” (Static!), “March 14th”… what can I say, I’m just a *disc 2* type person. Overall, not as good as NWTS or Take Care, but light years better than Views. And unlike Views (or any of Kanye’s latest 20 minute albums), has actual good songs for singles (although if you’re still not sick of “God’s Plan” and “Nice For What,” you have worms in your brain). And while these 25 tracks squeezed onto four sides of wax could have easily been a triple LP, I listened to it and it sounds surprisingly great... Honestly I’m shocked that Cash Money / Young Money / OVO / XO / Republic / Universal got this vinyl edition to market before zee Germanz and their lightning-fast bootlegs. Gatefold double vinyl pressing, recommended.
