It's hard to believe that Ed Banger Records has been going strong for 10 years! The Parisian label, led by the mastermind of Pedro Winter (aka Busy P), was instrumental in bringing dance music to a wider audience and helped to launch the careers of a number of artists. There doesn't seem to be a better way to celebrate their success than to drop their third compilation! It also gives those of us who may have had a little trouble keeping up with the prolific label a snapshot of where Ed Banger is at now. Along those lines we were fortunate enough to get a chance to chat with Mr. Winter and do a little catching up ourselves. Go ahead a give the interview a read, don't worry we'll wait. OK, now that we're all caught up, on to the music! There's a little something for everyone on Ed Rec Vol. X, from the slow electro funk of Krazy Baldhead's "My Soul Is Like A Tree," to the spastic tech house of Mr. Ozio's "Secam." Ozio also handles the intro to the comp in a very cheeky manner. Cover your kid's ears when you give that one a go. Over the last decade it feels like Ed Banger has gone through many phases. From being nearly unknown, to dropping Justice on the rest of the world and everything in between. Throughout all of that the label and the artists have been able to stay contemporary while keeping a certain spirit that seems to make everything uniquely Ed Banger. Busy P is bringing in new acts like Boston Bun and Mickey Moonlight that fit in with label veterans like Mr. Flash and Sebastian in their own way. It's inspiring to see a label like Ed Banger still going strong! Here's to 10 more years mis amis.
