Posthumous compilation from the late singer-songwriter. New Moon was originally released in 2007 and contains previously unreleased songs, the majority of which were recorded between 1994 and 1997 during the sessions for Smith's albums Elliott Smith and Either/Or. Despite Smith's troubled backstory his catalog is stunningly consistent. New Moon is a welcome addition, filled with songs that could have easily ended up on either of the aforementioned albums. The music is quiet and acoustic, packed with the emotional complexity that defines the majority of Smith's work. Twenty four tracks in all. Released by Kill Rock Stars on double vinyl with a download code.
