Emapea's debut has been steady bubbling in the underground since it's release in 2016. On Seeds, Roots & Fruits, the young Polish producer sets the bar impressively high with a variety of instrumental beats that guarantee consistent and steady head nods throughout its runtime. TBH it almost feels like some lost beat/downtempo gem from the late 90's (classic Mo'Wax / Ninja Tune aesthetic definitely in effect), so I have to keep reminding me this is actually contemporary material (and really good material at that). Over 16 tracks Emapea proves he is proficient in a gamut of beat styles - from straight up sample-based hip-hop beats (inna Beat Konducta vein), to psychedelic trip hop, and even some Portishead-like vibes (you'll know the one when you hear it). This 2019 reissue comes on double 12" for the first time, and includes the bonus track "What The Funk." Recommended.
